The Superintendent of Public Works shall also enter into bond payable to the county and approved by the judge of probate, with two good and sufficient sureties, in the penalty of $1,000, conditioned that he will faithfully perform the duties of his office, obey the orders of the county commission and will not voluntarily permit the escape of any of the convicts committed to him. The bond of the superintendent may be put in an action and prosecuted in all respects as is provided for actions on bonds of other public officers.
