Commission Required to Study Economic Impact Prior to Closure of Any Facility

(a) Prior to the closure of any facility as the result of the provisions of this act, there shall be established a commission to study the economic impact of the closure of the facility, any possible repurposing of the facility, and any outstanding obligations of the facility to a local governmental entity or utility board. The commission shall report its findings to the Governor, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Senate Minority Leader, and the House Minority Leader. (b) The Alabama Prison Repurposing Commission, created by Executive Order No. 722, September 22, 2020, is deemed to satisfy the requirements of subsection (a) for as long as the commission exists.
