(a) For purposes of this section, “employee” means an employee of a county, municipality, or other local political subdivision of the state, and “public body” means an agency, board, commission, council, or department of the state, a county, a municipality, or other political subdivision of the state. (b) The supervisor of an employee may not discharge, demote, transfer, or otherwise take an adverse employment action against the employee in retaliation for reporting to a public body, under oath or in the form of an affidavit, a violation of a law, a regulation, or a rule.
