Enforcement of Municipal Code Liens

(a) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, any fees, penalties, and abatement costs imposed against real property for abatement of nuisances or violations of a Class 1 municipality’s housing and building codes adopted pursuant to state law, other than owner-occupied property, may be enforced in rem as a lien pursuant to this chapter. (b) Unless otherwise specified by law, municipal code liens may be filed in the judge of probate’s office for the county where the real property is situated. (c) Every municipal code lien shall be superior to all other liens except those liens for taxes pursuant to Section 11-51-6.
