(a) Any mayor or other chief executive officer of a municipality who willfully fails to give notice of any municipal election as required in this article shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than $500.00 and may also be imprisoned in the county jail or sentenced to hard labor for the county for not more than six months. (b) Any mayor or other chief executive officer of a municipality who knowingly puts on the list of qualified electors for a municipal election the name of any person who is not registered, as shown by the records in the probate office of the county in which such municipality lies, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, must be fined not less than $100.00. (c) Any mayor or other chief executive officer of a municipality or other officer on whom the duty of the mayor may have temporarily devolved who willfully and knowingly neglects, fails or refuses to perform any of the duties prescribed in this article shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, shall be fined not less than $100.00, unless otherwise provided in this article.
