Stafford, J. A jury found petitioner Clarence Williams guilty of robbery in the first degree, kidnapping in the first degree, and murder in the first degree. The trial judge set aside the verdicts and granted petitioner a new trial on several statutory grounds. The Court of Appeals reversed, holding that none of the grounds was applicable.
